Something Big in the Shadows is the 5th episode of  The Adventures of Mermaid Man, Barnacle Boy and SpongeBob!  It aired July 2, 2012.

Plot

Patrick and SpongeBob are jellyfishing when they run into a hole. They then find a bell, and with the help of a ladder nearby, get out of the hole. SpongeBob drops the bell, making it ring, which a thing nearby growls. Back at the Mermailair, the Speedster, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy get a report that a monster is destroying Bikini Bottom, and where it came from, a cave with a bell next to it. The Chief says that the bell could have called the monster, and whoever ringed that bell, to the Speedster suprise, will be arrested. The Speedster then runs crazy, and crashes out of the Mermailair.

COMMERCIAL BREAK!

The Speedster gets on the Invisible Scooter, and the latter gets on the Invisible Boatmobile. They chase to the ruins of destroyed Bikini Bottom. The Speedster then climbs aboard a building, and so does the rest of the gang. Behind them, every building crumbles behind them. Then, the Speedster confesses, but he says Patrick rang the bell. Patrick got sentected to 5 years of jail time, and community service every Monday. 5 years later. Patrick is released from jail, and SpongeBob says that he rang the bell and got sentenced to 10 years of jail time. 10 years later. SpongeBob is released from jail, and the gang bonds. They go to defeat  the monster that hasen't been fighted for 15 years.

Trivia/Goofs

• When the Speedster is running from building to building, he is running to the left. 2 scenes later he is running to the right. 2 scenes later, he is back on the left.
• This is the first and only time the Speedster goes to jail.
