World of Fire is a side-project band by The Infection that was around since 1999, after the band announced their hiatus from The Infection, Yolandi decided to do a side-project band with SpongeBob SquarePants, Sandy Cheeks and Patrick Star and she gave them nicknames, masks, suits to protect their identities. The band announced they were going to be disbanded effective October 26th, 2017, although another album was released soon after, recorded before the disbandment.
The band reformed as a duo of SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star in January of 2018; but SpongeBob announced that it was considering rebooting the band and bringing back the original lineup in an interview on BBC Radio 2; Yolandi agreed to rejoin the band in March 2018 and added bassist D'arcy Wretzky to the new lineup. In April 2018, SpongeBob announced that the next studio album was going to be out in 2019 and months later SpongeBob opened up his own record company Infected Sponge which will release Downfall, Buddy Dave and future studio albums.
